What do you do when you come accross a pheasant that has

cearly been hit by a car and is just sitting there looking brained, legs acimbo, feathers missing, blood oozing and its sitting in the middle of the road ready to be mashed bashed by any traffic that might come round the bend?

I narrowly missed the beast but did a u-turn in the road with the intention of at least putting it on the verge.

When I stopped alongside I honked my horn to try to get it to move off the road ... it tried pathetically to move toward my car but did not make much headway.

I considered that it fell to me to ring its neck and put it out of its pain. Thank Allah a guy came out of a nearby house and offered to do it for me.

The bird having tried and failed to get closer to my car suddenly was able to run from the guy into a fence.

We considered that if it could muster a short run it may actually survive. So he has taken the bird into his care .. turns out he kept some pheasants in his garden.

Now I know ahat you are thinking. Mr fox (I'm guessing that was his name) will probably have the bird for his dinner ..well thats ok I was going to kill it anyway.
