| Under the terms of the Financial Services Act 1986 ("the Act"), particular restrictions are placed on who may give investment advice. It is perfectly legal to disseminate factual information. It may, however, be a criminal offence (punishable by up to two years’ imprisonment and/or an unlimited fine) to pass on information or data on investments unless it (and the way in which it is passed on or published) complies with the provisions of the Act and regulations under it. This will be the case whether it is your own information and data that you disseminate or somebody else’s. |
